Forever Changed/I'm Born Again

The evidence of God’s work in my life is the change that I see in me every day. It is the mark of being a new creation that makes the Christian faith so appealing to many. We who hated our old lives because of the mess we made of it, wanted to walk in a new direction. When we wanted to change, we knew that we were stuck, that is until the Lord Jesus came into our lives. He took what was totally broken and made it totally new.

I know that story, because it is all our stories. We were all led to the same point in our lives. The point where we wondered what the point of this life is. What is the point of anything? We felt the emptiness inside. The hollowness of having things but not having God. Not even knowing what was wrong was the confusing part. We were living but certainly not alive.

Being born again is not just about making our life better. It is about total transformation. We were dead in sin. We would have died in our sins and been eternally separated from God if not for grace. For those who do testify to the wonderful experience of walking with the Lord any length of time, we share a common sentiment, we are no longer the same. We are not as we used to be. We sing the song of the redeemed. The new birth experience is not just another chance to do things the same way it is for a person to be forgiven and turned around from the natural love of sin unto obedience to the word of God.

So how can you be born again even if you are old? You must first die. Not a physical death but you must die to your old life. You must give up the old and ask Jesus to come in and make you new. This process is called regeneration. When you take on the power of God unto salvation after hearing the message that Jesus walked the earth, died, and rose again by the power of God to save us from our sins and bring us back into fellowship with the father God. It is when you believe that and the fact that He is God, and he alone can save is when we become born again. We needed a savior and that is what He did! He gave it all that we can have it all.

In seeing the revelation of who Jesus is we change. We abandon our old lives, and we become a new creation. We then look to the word of God for the instructions of how this new life in Christ is supposed to be lived. We learn that we are spirit beings instead of only fleshly physical beings. We have a new purpose for our lives and not just to please ourselves. We now live to please God.

Our entire paradigm shifts as we become sons of God by faith in the finish work of the cross. Although we may not see him physically, we have faith that what we cannot see is eternal. The things that we once served through the flesh becomes a thing of the past and we now live to enter the kingdom of God.
