Sing a new song!

Singing is like breathing to me. I love to sing. Just the melody with the words center my world. The center is Christ! He is at the heart of everything that I do as he should be. I gave my life to Christ at 13 years old and was filled with his presence to overflowing. Even early on I remember that at church, singing was a large part of the service. Some churches sing for a short period of time and then move on to the main part of the service. Not my church! When I was that age, my pastor made it an absolute priority for praise and worship to last more than an hour. It stirs the soul, As my pastor at the time said, "It prepares the atmosphere for the word to be received." My question is what is praise and worship? Is it just singing and dancing to Christian music? Or, is it a deeper connection to the divine creator that makes it more than just singing? I suggest that it is the latter. When you have been saved by grace you may sing what others are singing with your mouth, but in your heart you sing a new song! A song of the redeemed! Which is a song of gratitude for being rescued from destruction. Yes, when you sing as the redeemed you indeed sing a new song! There are times you may end up crying not because something is wrong, but because you can't express how in love with Jesus you are, and it only comes out in tears! Or, while dancing you may end up lifting your hands in freedom and surrender. Some may have all the notes right and pitch perfect others sound perfectly in tune to their divine audience of one no matter how they sound to the person next to them.
